uAlbany Fountain Day 2011
Old traditions die hard! There may be A FOUNTAIN DAY 2011 after all. The event was cancelled after a small number of uAlbany students trashed a city neighbordhood in a St. Patrick's Day KEGS & EGGS melee! Students are trying to get the event back on the calendar, and they're using social networking to spread the word!
Ripped from FACEBOOK:
****NOTE**** This is not official yet until it is cleared by the SA and more so the school itself, so please don't get hopes up. I will let you all know when and if this becomes official. If this does go down its happening on the same day as Park-Fest, April 30th.
This school needs redemption, Us...the Students, need redemption. This city is looking at UA like we are a bunch of animals. We need to prove to the city, the school, and the rest of the world that we are not a bunch of drunk rioting animals. Lets organize a student ran event that can be host to much musical performances for up and coming artist, for new Student groups on campus looking to raise awareness for different things. Lets donate our proceeds back the the city of Albany to show them we do belong here, and that we are a bunch of smart, well developed, mature, professional college students...all while having a ton of fun!
Water guns, Water balloons, buckets, music, food, positive vibes and everything in between. Lets put our own twist on fountain day. Lets be the first class to introduce WATER-FEST. Lets show the city of Albany that we CAN do good things. Let's show them we aren't just a bunch of dumb college kids who riot for no reason.
-Our goal is to provide a positive and fun option for everyone this spring.
-T-Shirts, bags of pre-filled water balloons, and food will all be sold.
PROCEEDS WILL HOPEFULLY BE DONATED BACK TO THE COMMUNITY AS REPARATIONS FOR THE KEGS N EGGS RIOTS.
-We will try to get the school involved (Students Association) and make this event for a purpose to raise awareness for a special cause like cyber bullying or something like that.
-Obviously you're outraged by the cancellation of Fountain Day. This is an alternative to the hand our student body has been dealt. If you would like to help out by volunteering or setting up/organizing it would be MUCH appreciated.
- All UALBANY students are welcome.
- We are inviting all clubs, DJs/ Bands/ Organizations that would like to be involved.
-Contact Jimmy Forgione for further details or questions.
