Sarah Michelle Gellar returns to CW TV with the Ringer

Sarah Michelle Gellar will make her return to television after eight years. The actress is set to play twins in the drama "The Ringer," which was officially picked up by the CW, the network announced on Thursday.
The announcement was made during the network's upfronts presentation which included an appearance by the actress.
On the show, Gellar plays Bridget, a recovering addict who goes on the run after witnessing a murder. Bridget later assumes the identity of Siobhan, her wealthy but estranged twin sister, after Siobhan mysteriously disappears. Bridget quickly learns that her sister had her own shocking secrets. A trailer for the show, as well as a few clips of Gellar in action, can be seen below.
Since "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" left the airwaves in 2003, Gellar has been woking in films with roles in "The Grudge" series, "Southland Tales" and voice work for "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." The actress, who married Freddie Prinze Jr. in September 2001 gave birth to a daughter, Charlotte Prinze, in September 2009.
"I have the greatest fans in the world, and I loved my show. I think sometimes, too, you need that time to understand that it was a cultural phenomenon, a legacy," Geller explained to Entertainment Weekly when asked why she waited so long to return to television. "I want to honor those people who were so good to me and show them something worthy of their time and worthy of them. I think it was worth the wait."
The pilot for the drama was initially made for CBS and was announced in January, however, the network passed on the project and it was later picked up by CBS' sister network, The CW. The CW was formerly The WB but merged with the CBS owned network UPN in 2006. Both of those previous networks aired "Buffy The Vampire Slayer."
