Hope Solo has played soccer with the Three-Rivers Soccer Club in the Tri-Cities. As a forward at Richland High School, Solo scored 109 goals, leading her team to three consecutive league titles from 1996 until 1998 and a state championship in her senior year.[6] She was twice named a Parade All American. At the University of Washington, Solo switched to the goalkeeper position and was the team's all-time leader in shutouts, saves, and goals-against average (GAA). She was a four-time All-Pac-10 selection and a three-time NSCAA All-American.
Hope Solo recovered from major shoulder surgery last September to earn her place on the squad. Widely hailed as one of top goalkeepers in the world with an unparalleled kicking game, she underwent months of painful rehabilitation to get to this point and has been training and playing full out since the middle of March. Solo is second all-time in U.S. history in caps, wins and shutouts for a GK. She has lost just one game in goal for the USA in the past six years.
