Hotmail offers users ‘alias’ accounts
We’ve all done it before; created a new email account for the sole purpose of registering for a website or service out of fear that using our main address will cause a torrent of spam to rain down upon our account. Microsoft Corp. must know, because on Thursday the company being offering users of its Hotmail service the ability to create secondary email addresses directly through their main accounts. That’s right, Hotmail Alias’ is now an official feature of Hotmail, meaning users can now create new addresses to give to websites and services they might consider shady. Should their worst fears of a spam overload be realized, they can simply delete the new addresses, tossing it away without their main account being affected.
