From New York to La Jolla...
Perhaps you've grown tired of the area you now live in. You may feel that you have exhausted all possible job opportunities. A friend of mine, let's call him George*, got fed up with the harsh Northeast winters. He just retired from a job that yielded a modest pension. Although 70 years old, he didn't feel 70, and needed an exiting challenge. George decided to move to a new life and start over in a new state!
He chose San Diego, California, all the way on the other side of the country!
Now, you might think that's a big, long, faraway leap, like going to another planet! But it didn't faze George! With no family left in the area, he made the transition rather easily, choosing to settle down in an affluent, hilly seaside resort community, occupying 7 miles (11 km) of curving coastline along the Pacific Ocean in Southern California, an area known as La Jolla! To top it off (You're not gonna believe this, but it is true) George decided to drive his car all the way from wintry New York to sunny California!
La Jol·la (l hoi)If you're on holiday in San Diego, a visit to La Jolla's beaches should already be on your schedule. The La Jolla area is a great place to spend a vacation, or, if you fancy yourself as a daring soul like George, re-locate entirely! An unincorporated resort district of San Diego, California, on the Pacific Ocean.
